Announced at the Community Mingle on Friday, March 27th, the Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts is proud to launch the “10 for Tomorrow” Capital Campaign. This $10 million initiative aims to acquire and transform a 3.6-acre property into the Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts Community Arts Center, a permanent year-round hub for youth, creativity, and community opportunity in South St. Petersburg.
As the Foundation prepares to conclude its management of the Mahaffey Theater this May, this center marks a pivotal expansion of our mission. While we will proudly continue the Class Acts program at the Mahaffey—currently serving over 25,000 students annually—this new facility will provide a dedicated home for:
-
Youth Excellence: Performing arts training, summer camps, and after-school enrichment.
-
Creative Resources: A playground, activity center, media rooms, and a library.
-
Career Pathways: Mentorship and professional exposure for emerging local talent.
-
Community Connection: Inclusive family programming and neighborhood engagement.
“Our vision is to create a permanent space where our impact can grow,” says Founder & CEO Bill Edwards. “This center will create a safe space where young people can discover their talents and imagine what they can become,” adds Katrina Young, VP of Arts Education & Entertainment.
