St. Petersburg lost one of its most influential champions with the passing of Bill Edwards at age 81. A Vietnam War Marine veteran and Purple Heart recipient, businessman, philanthropist, and passionate supporter of the arts, Bill left an unmistakable mark on the city he called home. From his investment in the Mahaffey Theater and support of arts education for hundreds of thousands of children through his Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts, to his involvement in professional sports, entertainment, and countless community causes, Bill believed in St. Petersburg and backed that belief with action.
