Class Acts: Empowering Youth Through Arts Education
31 Years of Enrichment in Pinellas County
Class Acts is proud to present 14 captivating live performances tailored for the community. Complementing this, we are happy to continue the massively successful BAM! (Books, Art, and Music) Festival Series, consisting of 4 immersive hands-on art field trips and festivals scheduled throughout the school year at the Mahaffey Theater.
Our Stage is Your Classroom!
Class Acts provides all educators with teacher resource guides, prepared specifically for each performance. These guides focus on grade appropriate activities that support what is being taught in the classroom and on stage.
Aligned with Learning:
Our offerings align seamlessly with Florida’s curriculum initiatives and BEST standards, enhancing classroom education through the performing arts. Class Acts serves as a bridge between the classroom and the stage, illustrating complex subjects in a tangible and relatable manner. Whether it’s history, literature, science, or social studies, our performances and activities foster a deeper understanding while kindling students’ passion for learning.
Empowering Educators and Scholarships for Access:
We understand that teachers play a pivotal role in shaping young minds. Our programs provide educators with tools to enhance their teaching methods, making subjects come alive through the arts. The result is a more dynamic and interactive classroom experience. Thanks to the Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts, we provide scholarships, including transportation and admission waivers, to make our programs accessible to all. Their support sustains our educational mission.

Keep the field trip going! To further the curriculum seen on stage, after select shows students can participate in additional Workshops. These workshops take place at the theater and through hands-on arts activities students can engage with the subject matter.
The fun doesn’t stop at the theater! Class Acts also bring artists into local schools with an Artist Residency. Classes will be led by local, professional artists after school in a week-long arts project. Whether it’s learning the elements of photograph or how to build a drum, students will get a chance to experience the real-life process of creating art.
Inspiring Futures:
In the coming year, we are excited to announce the continuation and expansion of our Summer Camp programs, providing even more students with the opportunity to delve into the world of musical theater and experience the magic of creative collaboration. Additionally, we are thrilled to introduce new programming that includes captivating theater tours, fostering a deeper connection to the performing arts. Our commitment to literacy growth continues with the Literacy Link program, encouraging young readers and providing educators with valuable resources. Furthermore, our dedication to showcasing budding talents remains strong as we feature a student musical performance in the upcoming season. With these enriching additions and much more on the horizon, Class Acts at Mahaffey Theater is poised to continue its mission of inspiring and empowering young minds through the arts.
